Part two of this series features Dr. Kailan Baston who provides a deeper dive into trauma-informed and evidence-based engagement tools to help reach parents and families who are suffering with substance use disorders. She discusses how to recognize signs that a parent may be using; how to approach the issue with destigmatizing language (and what language to avoid); as well as motivational interviewing and easy-to-implement screening and assessment questions. In addition, Dr. Baston details how to identify and consider evidence-based treatment programs in your region with whom you can build partnerships and create a bridge to help parents and families get help.  Professionals and Providers serving young children and their families - feed your belly & feed your brain!
